Original Review and Purchase Details
This customer story is based on gb's original Amazon review.
- Rating: 5 stars

- Product: Graywind Motorized Zebra Sheer Blinds
- Color: Classic White
- Motor selected: Rechargeable Smart Motor
- Order size: One test shade, followed by 15 additional shades
"I started with one test shade before committing because I was concerned about the risk and difficulty of a return if it did not work out. I liked the quality and Graywind's approach enough to buy 15 more Zigbee light-filtering and blackout shades in white, plus the 15-channel remote. Both types looked great and worked well."
Fabric and Material
The reviewer strongly recommended ordering fabric swatches before choosing a shade. Samples obtained from other suppliers had felt rigid, showed fraying, or appeared unsuitable for frequent use. In comparison, the Graywind samples felt flexible, resisted creasing, and did not show obvious edge damage.
The customer described the solid light-filtering bands as smooth and thin, while the blackout bands felt thicker. The sheer sections were firmer than ordinary sheer curtains and could crease if repeatedly folded. After six months, the reviewer reported no fraying on shades used fully or partially open.
These comments describe one customer's 2021 products and should not be treated as standardized durability testing.
Alignment of the Zebra Blinds
Band alignment across multiple windows was an important concern. The reviewer said shades with matching lengths were generally aligned well. Different window heights could produce visible differences when the shades were installed side by side, so customers ordering for one room may want to confirm alignment requirements before production.
Two of the 16 shades reportedly had bands sitting at a slight angle. The reviewer also noticed that the solid bands differed in width between the light-filtering and blackout selections. Mixing fabric types in one room may therefore create a less uniform appearance.
Light Control and Privacy
The customer selected blackout configurations for rooms needing greater darkness and nighttime privacy. Light-filtering shades were used where preserving daylight was more important. The reviewer noted that light-filtering material did not provide complete nighttime privacy because a visible indoor shadow could also be seen from outside.
The customer used a light meter from approximately 6 feet away. For the light-filtering shades, the reported readings were 199 lux when closed, 247 lux with the bands aligned, and 331 lux when fully open. For the blackout configuration, the readings were 43 lux when closed, 5,037 lux with the bands aligned, and 12,949 lux when open.
The two tests were performed in different rooms with different sunlight, so the figures should be read as the customer's observations rather than a controlled comparison.

Battery, Motor, and Sound
At the six-month point, one shade had required charging after approximately four months. The others, including shades opened and closed daily, had not yet needed charging but were expected to require it soon.
The reviewer measured motor sound at approximately 44 dB from 2 feet away and 40 dB from 6 feet away. They compared it with the hum of a portable heater or fan. The sound was acceptable during the day, although scheduled morning operation could wake a light sleeper. These readings were customer measurements, not official product test results.
Installation and 15-Channel Remote
The reviewer found installation straightforward and liked the push-and-lock mounting brackets. The cassette could be removed and shifted left or right for centering. Their shades used an outside mount on the window casing, leaving an approximately 1-inch side gap. The additional ordered width still provided the privacy they wanted.
The customer preferred the push-button remote to touch-sensitive designs because the physical buttons made adjustment easier. The review and current product information identify this control as a 15-channel remote.
SmartThings With an Aeotec Hub
The reviewer reported controlling the 2021 ZF Zigbee motors through SmartThings with an Aeotec hub. The app allowed scheduled opening and closing and percentage-based position adjustments.
Smart-home support depends on the selected motor, accessories, hub, and current platform requirements. Buyers should compare the present controls listed for Graywind Motorized Zebra Blinds in the Classic Series instead of assuming that every current motor matches the reviewer's setup.
Packaging and Customer Service
The customer said each shipment arrived protected with foam and plastic packaging, which was important because deliveries in their area were often handled roughly.
They also reported receiving responses to inquiries within 24 hours. When three motors did not operate correctly, Graywind helped troubleshoot the problem, followed up afterward, and sometimes supplied short instructional videos. Based on this experience, the reviewer concluded that Graywind provided strong customer service and motorized zebra shades they would recommend.
