Identify Your Window Shape

Specialty Window Measurement Requirements

What to Submit

  • Front-Facing Window Photo: Take a clear photo directly facing the window. Make sure the entire window shape is visible, including all corners and edges.
  • Measurement Sketch: Provide a simple hand-drawn sketch of the window shape. It does not need to be professionally drawn, but it should clearly show the overall structure.
  • Labeled Dimensions: Mark all measurements directly on the sketch and label them according to the measuring guide, such as A, B, C, D, angle, radius, or depth. Do not submit measurements as width and height only.

For Best Results

  • Include multiple photos if the window shape is complex.
  • Ensure all measurements are clearly readable on the sketch.
  • Double-check dimensions before submission.
  • Keep photos and sketches for reference until your order is confirmed.

Why We Require This

Specialty-shaped windows such as arches, angles, triangles, trapezoids, circles, and skylights cannot be accurately manufactured from width and height measurements alone. Photos, sketches, and labeled dimensions allow our team to verify the shape and reduce the risk of measurement errors before production.

Why Are All Measurements Required?

All dimensions shown in this guide should be measured, even if only certain measurements are required during configuration.

To simplify the ordering process, our system may automatically calculate some dimensions based on the key measurements you provide. However, we still recommend measuring all dimensions shown in the guide.

Comparing your measured dimensions with the calculated values helps verify that your window shape matches the product requirements and ensures the highest manufacturing accuracy.

Mounting Considerations

Inside Mount Only

All Graywind specialty-shaped shades are designed for inside mount installation only. The shade is installed within the window opening so it can follow the window shape and create a built-in appearance.

Window Requirements

  • The window opening must provide enough depth for the shade and mounting hardware.
  • The mounting surface must be structurally sound.
  • Handles, cranks, locks, or other protrusions should not interfere with shade operation.
  • For splayed, tapered, or recessed frames, measure the narrowest point of the opening.

Minimum Depth

A minimum mounting depth of 1 1/2" is required for Graywind specialty-shaped shades.

*Always measure the mounting depth on the designated base side shown in the measuring diagram. If the available depth is less than 1 1/2", the shade may not be suitable.
