Best there is

These are a Godsend to me. Great looking and so functional with Alexa after you figure out never to use their ap. Pretent they are a light dimmer and it's perfect.

These are so way worth it and their support is surprising fantastic over email. 24/7!

30 days in and happy

Wonderful customer service they helped me obtain a custom size powered vehicle blind. The product fit well , works well, and integrates well with Alexa . Tip to make Alexa twist the blinds, you say Alexa set blinds to 50 % percent...etc.
The strips then self had the ability to individually adjust the hight in case your opening is not perfect. Very happy and would buy again

Motorized Vertical Blinds

Recently ordered a Motorized Vertical blind , all sizes a custom made to order yet fast shipping . Perfect fit and was very easy to install. Using a remote is so much better than manually getting up and moving the blinds with the pull cords. Customer service has been great to deal with. and most shipping has only taken three days to arrive

Why
Happy with the blinds, app- not so much.

Pros: Love the blinds. Install was straightforward. Sizing was good. Remote works as it should. Home Assistant support.

Durability- time will tell, hopefully parts will be available if and when the time comes.

Cons: I tried to use the app scheduler to open and close the blinds but upon closing, it will not automatically rotate the blades close which kinda defeats the purpose. There was no option to rotate blades close using the scheduler, at least not that I could figure out to the point I gave up on trying to make it work. This was not a big deal since I got around this issue using Alexa app instead. I scheduled it on Alexa app to close then "rotate blinds" to 0% or 100% about 20 secs later.

Overall I'm happy with the product. I will buy again if the need arise and would recommend. 5 star if the native app would rotate the blinds close automatically, until then 4 stars.

Worth the time

The package arrived professionally wrapped- no damage to anything.
arrived within a week..not hard installing.
I’m having some issues with it working with Alexa, but we are working the bugs out. very nice product.
( so far)
I’ve got it to open and close, but can’t get the blinds to rotate, I’m working on that but it’s working fine as you can see.
I found the blinds do not stay at 50 to close thus will cause damage to the plastic track holders. You have to use the remote to open the blinds to 50 percent then can tell Alexa to close or open?
Very up set. After many emails we were able to set the blinds to rotate. Everything works.

overall nice shade but with some minor issues

Overall nice product and nice shade but with some issues. There are very few consumer options for fully automated AC powered motors that integrate with Alexa over wifi. If you have nearby AC power, this is a huge upgrade over battery powered shades.

Main complaint-- Valence fascia shows wrinkles from the factory. Installing the fascia is difficult since fabric is bonded to a plastic backer with adhesive at the edges that prevents sliding into the track or adjustment. The plastic backer telegraphs wrinkles and waves no matter how much effort you spend flattening it into the track. This is particularly visible at night under room lighting. If you experience this problem, the solution is to strip the fabric from the rigid backing tape and then adhere it directly to the valence track using 3M Super 77 Spray adhesive (special glue that won't wet or alter fabric color).

Major installation consideration-- If you have a large fixture that is center opening, expect the rod to arrive in two pieces. I highly recommend hanging the halves separately and joining them at the center only after both halves are clipped into the wall brackets. The center attachment is plastic and any bending or flex while jostling into place will surely damage it and the gears it protects. Also, don't forget the small metal drive shaft insert when securing the two halves.

Color/texture tips-- The waffle pattern is probably closest in texture to a traditional old school cloth vertical. I recommend you order the sample pack and blue tape samples to your glass so you can see what they look like backlit. I found the beige in the sample pack to be unexpectedly yellow when backlit. We opted for weighted bottoms which are performing without movement in close proximity to floor vents with a 1" gap to the floor.

Sizing considerations-- When ordering, they tell you that the total stack is 1/6 the total width, with half on each side if it is center opening. On my large fixture (183" wide), the actual stack exceeded 1/6 by 6". I should have added 1/6 + 6" to my total width. If width is mission critical to avoid obstructing your views, confirm suggested width + stack with customer service.

If you order outside mount, the height you specify is bang on what is shipped. Brackets clamp over top of fixture with the top of bracket approx 1/4" above fixture height when planning bracket mount location. Bracket mounting holes are awkwardly placed near the corner and inside the reinforced web. Access to fasteners is challenging. I normally like to use hex head sheet metal screws as they do not strip out but there is not enough space with these brackets. I would recommend using a good stud finder and mounting these brackets into studs instead of the included sheet rock anchors that are prone to pull-out. When mounting, you must press the backside of the rod into a spring loaded plastic clip and then rotate the front up into the cleat. This force alone could tear out weak drywall anchors. Installation will require a minimum of two people.

Packaging-- The vanes themselves are rolled up and were perfectly straight after installation with the weighted ends. They came with weights and chains already attached. They still need to be manually clipped into the fixture. With a large fixture, it is helpful to have a helper hold the cluster of vanes up off the floor to reduce the weight while the installer clips each vane one at a time. They included two spares that were not secured with the beads at the bottom. Do not accidentally clip in one of the spares or you will make a lot of extra work for yourself.

Operation-- the blind is not as smart as I'd have hoped but there are some work-arounds. In the Gray Wind app, rotation is assigned a value 0-100 with 50 being perpendicular at 90 degrees to the glass and 0 or 100 flat (parallel) to the glass. The fixture motor does not automatically return to what should be the default vane rotation of 50 (perpendicular to glass) before opening or closing. Whether using the remote or the app, the blind will stupidly close or open in whatever rotation the vanes were left in. This potentially can bind up the plastic gears and permanently damage the blind if it is opened or closed with the vanes rotated fully flat (0 or 100). I would have expected a smart vertical to automatically return rotation to 50 before safely shifting the motor to open or close.

The remote has arrows for open, arrows for close, an arrow to rotate clockwise, and arrow to rotate counter clockwise, and pause buttons. Since it does not return to 50 by default, you must hit the correct rotation arrow and then manually hit pause when it looks about perpendicular to the glass. Expect to fumble with these buttons. Then you can hit the desired close or open button. The simple act of opening or closing the fixture will take a minimum of 3 button presses on the remote.

Automation-- For automation, you need to install the Gray Wind app on your phone. The app walks you t...

The company got the custom measurements down to the T!! It was perfect. I would definitely recommend this produc. If you are not happy with your results, it’s more than likely due to you not knowing how to use a measuring tape

Great well backed products

I’ve purchased two rollup blinds, and this vertical blind. I have to admit that one of the rollup motors didn’t work, and the vertical blind track was messed up. But in both cases, the company shipped me replacements within a few days. Easy fixes! There are two ladies in customer service that are phenomenal. Very helpful! All I can say is if you give them the right measurements, they will make their products work for you. I even “zoom” chatted with Cheri to demonstrate the problem. All work great with Alexa! BUT, you gotta get your measurements right!

My Best Purchase of the Year

I am extremely happy with my vertical blinds. The end result is everything I hoped for. They are beautiful and work perfectly. Easy to control from the remote and also controllable from the app on my phone. I haven't connected it to Alexa or done any scheduling.
There was a problem with FedEx losing 1 of 3 packages in the shipment but Graywind did replace the package. I am not the handiest DYI'er but was able to install it in a day's time. I expect a more skilled person could do it in a couple of hours. I contacted Graywind with questions and they were very helpful. I only needed 10 minutes of help from a friend to hang the rail.
Before my purchase, I got a quote from a local provider and they were twice the price for a manual vertical blind installed. They said it cost about 4 times more for a motorized blind. Even though I am not very handy with tools, I decided to give Graywind a try and very glad I did. Not only on price but also quality.
I definately would recommend this product to my friends. I am very happy with the results.

Good value and quality - voice commands should be better

I self-installed these blinds on our back glass sliding door and they work very well with our Google Assistant home setup. These are some of the least expensive blinds I could find with their functionality yet they seem to be good quality and perform as expected.

My one complaint is that the voice commands are not intuitive - you need to use the commands "turn off" and "turn on" to open and close the blinds and then to rotate them, you say "open" or "close".

Modified

After removing the motor cover I discovered that the heavy 3 prong 3 wire heavy cord was not necessary. I replaced it with a short 2 wire lamp cord with a plug allowing me to extend the cord with a simple 2 wire extension cord. Much easier to hide along the casing and along the baseboard. Would have preferred a 12v motor so the wiring could be hidden behind the wall. Disappointed that I could not send local http commands directly to the motor thus eliminating the need for the cloud servers to be available 100% of the time. Other than the above I do like the blinds but being a techie I will probably look for blinds that can be controlled locally.

Great customer service and after sales support

I ordered this for my side patio door and the product arrived in 2.5 weeks after ordering. Upon installing the motor was making noise and the customer service was quick responding and troubleshooting but ends up not able to fix. They shipped the new track with motor and that took another 2 weeks to arrive.

Stuff happens and it’s the company that stands by their product matters. Great seller and new one works as expected. Highly recommended.

These are the only ones on the market that work

We have 4 3-pane 9-foot sliding glass doors that the center section opens to go in and out. I was VERY leery about spending as much money on these as we did, but nothing else is available of a reasonable quality that is remote controlled and opens as vertical blinds. These are the only vertical blinds on the market that I would consider to order. The version we ordered open and close from the center point, so essentially you have two half-blinds bolted together that close towards the middle. I was concerned about how the center seam would look when closed before I ordered them. They fit together PERFECTLY when closed like it is one big blind. We purchased the khaki color burlap type vertical slats. It is a GREAT neutral color and texture. They block light really well. These are excellent blinds for what we needed! The installation is a little tedious, but not very hard to do. The bracketry is a good sturdy quality. Make sure you measure and mark correctly when ordering and installing, they will email you back to verify what your order is. I would also recommend ordering the sample materials to make your color and texture choice since the names don't exactly define the color you are ordering. The communication with this company is extremely good and they reply very quickly. Thank you Zoe and Cherry!

Good blinds for a good price

The blinds were super easy to install and got here in a timely manner. Worked perfectly and is so easy to use. When I needed help to set up the blinds with Alexa, they were quick to respond to all correspondence, efficient directions were given, and they even checked back to make sure I got it working properly. This was the best buying experience I have ever had and I would recommend them to anyone wanting motorized blinds. The service was great all around. Have never had such wonderful customer service before. Thanks guys. Keep up the good work!

Expect to buy screws and bolts

Installation was easy, 2 people preferably but 1 person can do it. Perfect size for my yard door. Opens and closes just as expected. The color is just perfect. Missing a few screws and bolts for the wall brackets but no biggy, ACE HARDWARE solved that problem.

Great product and good value for the price. New App!

Arrived in two boxes. Both were packaged very well and unit arrived without damage. Easy to install, instructions included were google translated, but were easy to understand as they used the actual CAD drawings in the manual. Near silent operation and very smooth movement of the motor and belt driven mechanics. Only issue encountered was trying to connect with app mentioned in the instructions, but contacted their support team and gotten a well written response the next day. A new Graywind app is available and works nicely.

Tips: The app does take a full minute or two to find and add the device. When using google assistant, you need to open blinds 50% (0 closed one way, 50 open see through, 100 closed other way) before turning off the blinds (retracts blinds) It will try to retract them fully closed!

Motor hits vanes!!

Missing some hardware, 2 anchor bolts, luckily I had some from a previous job. The instructions are for the mechanically inclined since there isn't much there. The vanes hit the motor when it's trying to close fully. I asked for the motor to be in the back and that would've solved that issue. I'll probably have to trim the plastic on the vane.

What is the construction of the slats?

Hi, here is an installation video for vertical blinds so you could see how the slats look like and how they're attahced to the track: https://youtu.be/iBRaO1ZarmI (pls check from 2:46 to 2:56)
